The Devil is real. And he’s not a little red man with horns and a tail. He can be beautiful. ‘Cause he’s a fallen angel, and he used to be God’s favorite.

American Horror Story, Season 1

(Probably my favorite quote from the entire series.)

During the few torrential downpours that have taken place in NYC over the past weeks, how many of you New Yorkers wished that you had the ability to divert the raindrops away and create a rain-free tunnel to walk through on your way to work? While many of us have probably indulged our imaginations about how to control or alter weather patterns, it is extremely rare to have an opportunity to experience what the results of such actions might be.

Currently on display at MoMA, Random International’s Rain Room is an experiment in manipulating technology to create this very experience; in a carefully controlled environment, visitors can engage the sensory experience of dodging raindrops while remaining visually immersed in the downpour.

The video above, produced when the piece debuted at the Barbican Centre in London, features the members of Random International sharing insights on the piece. After watching the video, make plans to experience the work at MoMA, and let us know what you think about it!
